Treating CAM impingement of the hip.
Femoroacetabular impingement (CAM type) causes groin pain and pain during sport. We analyse your hip mechanics and treat specifically.
Book appointmentWhat's behind it?
In CAM impingement (femoroacetabular impingement of the CAM type), the femoral neck is not perfectly round but has a bony prominence. During certain movements, especially flexion and rotation, this pinches in the hip joint and causes pain. With targeted physiotherapy, we can alleviate the symptoms and optimise hip mechanics.
Causes
- Bony shape deviation of the femoral neck
- Repetitive hip flexion in sport (football, martial arts, dancing)
- Lack of mobility in the surrounding muscles
- Combination with Pincer impingement (mixed form)
Symptoms
- Groin pain with hip flexion or sport
- Pain after prolonged sitting
- Restricted hip internal rotation
- Clicking sounds in the hip joint
How we treat CAM Impingement.
Movement analysis
Identifying painful movement patterns and mechanical impingement situations.
Mobilisation
Targeted mobilisation of the hip and surrounding joints.
Strength & control
Building the deep hip stabilisers and gluteal muscles.
Load adjustment
Adjusting sport and daily life to relieve the joint.
