Knee Pain (Patella)

What's behind it?

Knee pain is one of the most common complaints. It can occur behind the kneecap (patella), at the side ligaments, or in the joint space. Often the cause is not in the knee itself, but in a misalignment caused by the hip, foot, or insufficient core stability. With a comprehensive movement analysis, we find the root of the problem and treat it specifically.

Causes

  • Misalignment due to hip or foot problems
  • Patellofemoral pain syndrome (retropatellar arthrosis)
  • Overload from sport or occupational stress
  • Muscular imbalances (e.g. weak vastus medialis)

Symptoms

  • Pain in front of or behind the kneecap
  • Pain when climbing stairs or walking downhill
  • Clicking or grinding in the knee during movement
  • Pain after prolonged sitting ("movie theatre knee")
